I think it’s safe to say that 2013 has been the year of the overnight moisture mask, it seems every brand has got one and when an industry fashion booms like this, it’s important to sort the wheat from the chaff; so here’s some wheat.

Sampar, one of my favourite brands from the continent, mainly due to Sampar Glamour Shot, have their own named So Much To Dew Midnight Mask; pun intended.

With hyaluronic acid capsules that gradually burst and bind moisture to the skin throughout your sleep, this gel mask really packs a punch. Also, the ‘Smart Hydrating Complex’ is designed to mimic the skin’s hydrolipidic film, also locking water and hydration into cells. Finally, the protective Urban Advance Complex works as an anti-oxidant, harnessing 3 active ingredients: shea butter serum, mint endorphin and probiotic sugar.

Sampar So Much To Dew Midnight Mask is a little tricky to apply and I could have done without the brush for two reasons: firstly, it’s fiddly as hell and actually when you squeeze the product, it often shoots out beyond the brush; secondly, even though you’re applying it to cleansed skin, you are wiping it over your face repeatedly over a long period of time so I have a few hygiene concerns.

However, I found it made more sense to apply the product to the back of my hand and then just use my fingers; it’s much easier.

It sinks into the skin quickly and feels a little tacky but that doesn’t bother me much as all overnight masks tend to feel the same. It has a light fragrance but didn’t cause any irritation on the skin.

Come morning time, after just one application, my skin looked incredible: brighter, definitely more toned and wildly more hydrated to the touch; everything just seems to life and balance out, which for first thing on a morning is quite impressive.

Sampar So Much To Dew Midnight Mask is priced at £34 and is available here from Marks & Spencer and also here from Feel Unique.
