Fornasetti Malachite Candle: The Mallow-Green Stone

Fornasetti Christmas 2014 3Fornasetti Christmas 2014 2Fornasetti Christmas 2014Isn’t this gorgeous? You might have seen my review of the Fornasetti Profumi Mani Otto Candle last year; it’s still burning!

Created by the son of the famous and internationally renowned artist Piero Fornasetti, Barnaba Fornasetti, Malachite is a new candle, exclusive to Selfridges for Christmas with the fragrance by Jeanne-Marie Faugier.

The scent of winter and taking inspiration from dark green malachite stone – a top of pine, galbanum and clary sage; a heart of patchouli and cedarwood and finally a strengthened base of amber, sandalwood, styrax and olibanum. It’s musky, metallic, earthy and soothing; this is a fragrance for the soul.

What I desperately tried to capture in the shots as well as the rings of black and jade on the votive were the warm, glistening veins of gold shot through the design, truly fabulous in any light.

Truly a gorgeous thing to feature around the home and once the candle has burned after approximately 60 hours, then you can either refill it (go and have a word with Rachel Vorsper about that one) or use large tea lights. Either way this votive should last a lifetime; and then some.

The 300g Fornasetti Malachite Candle is available exclusively from Selfridges for £110.
