Crème de la Mer: The Facial

Yesterday I was kindly invited to experience the luxury and wonder of a facial by Crème de la Mer. I’ve sporadically used Crème de la Mer products and never ceased to be amazed by their power and performance. It’s easy to accuse a brand such as Crème for resting on the laurels but their products truly are coveted by those in the know – seeing is definitely believing.

Harvey Nichols’ new luxurious beauty hall was the venue, and my treatment was delivered by Jennie, a fantastic facialist who could not be better representing of the brand. The Harvey Nichols’ treatment room for Crème de la Mer was not located down the world’s most luxurious hallway, but I suppose it did it’s purpose. The room was compact and well laid out, with the treatment bed in the centre surrounded by the necessities, all subduedly lit. I don’t want to spoil all the ins and outs of the treatment but I will share the products and general routine with you. The facial was composed of the face treatments, a neck and shoulder massage and then terrific hand and arm massages that I’m really feeling the benefits of whilst I’m sat here typing away.

The facial consisted of a luxurious cleansers, gentle exfoliation, and layers of gorgeous hydrators, serums, essences and moisturisers, all designed around my combination/oily skin type. The two cleansers used were The Cleansing Lotion a creamy lotion suitable for most skin types (it prescribes normal/dry but it would be perfect for combination/dehydrated as mine is) and the The Cleansing Foam a rich, creamy facial cleansing foam suitable for all skin types that gives a powerful and deep cleanse; it can also be used as a shaving foam. Then The Refining Facial mixed with a little of The Cleansing Lotion provided a really deep exfoliation that was gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin types.

Layers of The Hydrating InfusionThe Radiant Serum and The Brightening Lotion Intense from the Blanc de La Mer collection were also applied. I know this sounds like a lot of products here but because each product was applied with slightly varying techniques and with attention paid to weights, it sank well into the skin not leaving me feeling remotely greasy or congested. My eyes were treated with the powerful The Eye Concentrate, an astoundingly active eye cream that through the course of the day, I’ve noticed an improvement in the brightness and tone of my eyes, I look far more wide awake.

My body was treated to an application of The Body Crème, described as “a seaweed wrap in a jar”, and even now my skin feels beautifully fragrant and smooth. It contains an amount of the Miracle Broth, the foundation ingredient of Crème de la Mer. This was also used on my hands which provided greater lubrication for treatment and left them soft but not greasy. Finally my lips were finished off with my favourite of all, The Lip Balm which smells and tastes of After Eights.

I’d definitely recommend booking yourself in as it’s a beautifully luxurious treatment and perfect for us guys who are stepping into the world or luxury skin care more and more with each passing year.
