4711 Nouveu Cologne

Much lighter than its ancestor, 4711 Nouveu Cologne is a breath of fresh air to the 4711 family. I have said many, many times that I’m obsessed with the original 4711, always have been, it’s a classic, but this is something lighter, fresher and more accessible; a great spring/summer fragrance.

I can’t emphasise how refreshing this is! When we had a few days of sunshine last week, I decided to take advantage of the momentary heat and wash my bedding. After running it through the machine, I hung the bedding outside and whilst damp, doused it in 4711 Nouveu Cologne. Afterwards, my sheets smelt unbelievable, clean cotton, light citrus and distinctively fresh black currant.

To get into the nitty-gritty of the fragrance, it’s composed of a top ensemble of Yuzu (a Japanese citrus), black currant and litchi; a heart of geranium, heliotrope and peony and finally a base of musk, sandalwood and tonka bean. There are definitely strong elements of the original but it’s much breezier and I think this will be unbelievable as a travel fragrance, refreshing yourself after a long plane journey.

As well as the fragrance itself, I’ve also been using the shower gel which is just as refreshingly uplifting. Creating a fabulously soft lather, it provides a great base to layer your fragrance giving you a longer lasting scent throughout the day. With the shower gel I got a little more of the black currant which gave it a fruiter edge rather than the citrus of the cologne. There aren’t any particularly notable ingredients in the shower gel, it’s purely to enrich your fragrance but it does leave you cleansed and not at all dry or squeaky.

I meant to comment on this earlier. The original 4711 is way too strong, but I do like this new one, very much. I assume its a unisex fragrance?
