There’s something a little fabulous about send-outs from Guerlain and receiving the new Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Sport is no exception. It’s a brand my mother has adored most of my life and in this massively oversaturated industry is still a beacon of guilt-ridden decadence.
Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Sport is a flanker to L’Homme Ideal launched back in 2014 which was heavily almonde, tonka and leather. L’Homme Ideal Sport still retains the tonka but leads and remains with an aquatic opening reinforced by mint, vetiver and subtle spices. It definitely reminds me of Bleu de Chanel.
It opens with crisp, aquatic tennis whites at a gentrified country club; it’s very, very fresh. It then dries down to something very smooth and seductive. L’Homme Ideal Sport is unmistakably a sporting fragrance that’s designed to compliment and counteract movement, exertion, sweat and strain by channeling soothing, clean and refreshing waters.
It doesn’t have the widest throw/silage and the longevity is quite low; which I suppose is all you need after a post gym workout. I feel that this is more a cooling splash for summer than an all day, year-round cologne and has been formulated as such. This is great to throw in your holiday bag for some respite during long, hot days!
Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Sport is new for Summer 2017 and is already available here from John Lewis at £50.50/50ml.
