Most of you will know by now that I used to be an accredited consultant for Clinique a little while ago. Oh yes, I once donned the crystal white lab-coat and trademark, Clinique-C badge. You might think I’m a little biased then when it comes to ranting and raving about Clinique products. Since the age of 13 I’ve used their skincare and it’s what lead me to work for the brand in the first place. I love it.

So as a hardcore Clinique-Geek, I was shocked, appalled, titillated, intrigued and aghast to hear that as they did 2 years ago with Clarifying Lotion, the iconic Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion was to be reformulated. I was invited to the launch but was trekking around London, exhausted from London Collection Men. However; I’ve been using the reformulation for the last few weeks.

According to Clinique, it took 3 formulating dermatologists, 53 researchers, and 100 formula trials to get the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ just right. So after 65 years since the original, was it worth it?
What I love about it primarily is that on first contact with the skin, it feels exactly the same as the original. It melts into the skin the same, it initially feels the same, it smells the same and it looks the same. The biggest differences can be felt throughout the day as skin feels more hydrated for longer and skin seems to feel silkier and softer by the evening. I’ve found that since using Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+, I’ve been reaching for the Clinique Moisture Surge jar a little less, even in this heat we’ve been experiencing.
But other than the ‘plus’, what are the differences? It’s twice as moisturising with the addition of Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid and Urea. These ingredients bond moisture to the skin but are non-comodoenic and don’t change the famously silky consistency of the moisturiser. This reformulation has proven to deliver a 54% improvement of the skin’s moisture barrier in 8 weeks!
This is definitely worth the wait and shouldn’t put off its die-hard of loyalists. The price point is the same with the 125ml with pump retailing at £29.50 (smaller sizes are available) here at Clinique’s website.
