REN Photoactive Sun Veil SPF 15

I’ve found the product that will set me up for the summer and keep my unbelievably pale skin protected from Manchester’s hot summer sun – REN Photoactive Sun Veil SPF 15.

This product is one of the best dedicated facial sun screens I’ve come across to date. It’s designed to be worn over the top of your existing skincare regime without interfering with moisture levels. It protects with broad spectrum UVA/UVB Zinc Oxide mineral defences. Fluorophores from Nori Extract then absorbs UV light and boosts elastin and revitalises. Antileukine from Ochroleuca Algae is a powerful anti-oxidant and reduces UV induced inflammation. Finally, Tocotrienols from Arctic Cranberry Seed oil captures free radicals and help protect the skin, keeping it calm and balanced.

When on the skin, it feels amazing and left no shine on the skin, and more importantly, didn’t leave me looking whiter than I already do.

Heads up, it’s an SPF 15, which gives you 3 hours 45 minutes full sun exposure. Once this time has elapsed, re-applying will do nothing, its simply time to come inside as your skin has had enough sun exposure for the day and any more will start to cause cell damage. You work out the time an SPF gives you protection by this little method:

In the UK, your skin can be in the sun for 15 minutes before it begins to burn. So, take the number 15 (minutes) and then multiply it by the SPF number, this in turn gives you the number of minutes your SPF will keep you protected. An SPF 15 therefore is 15 (minutes) x 15 (SPF) = 225 minutes. Therefore 225 minutes = 3 hours 45 minutes. An SPF 40 would give you 10 hours and so on. This is useful to bear in mind for holidays etc, but for the UK in normal daylight, an SPF 15 is ample!

This is a fabulously ingenious product and well worth adding into any daily skincare regime, no matter of skin colour, type or concern.
