My New Obsession: OPEN Menswear London

Processed with VSCOcam with e8 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with e8 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with e8 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with e8 presetIMG_6408My quest through the world of men’s grooming often takes me into the field of fashion; something I’m by no means an expert in but I like to think I have taste. In this line of work, you have to at least try to present yourself well.

Now, if you’ve been following MANFACE you might have seen my fitness posts over the last year, on my mission to transform my body from flab to fit.

This has meant that so many of my clothes have had to be given away to charity shops – not that that’s a bad thing, but I’d rather wear them myself if possible – so periodic clothing sprees have been necessery.

My boobs have got bigger, my shoulders wider and my waist narrowed meaning that these days, I just don’t know how or where to shop as my regular haunts just don’t seem to cut it any more.

So yesterday whilst out in Leeds after celebrating the New Year the evening before, I happened upon one of a new chain of shops that had recently opened in the Leeds Trinity shopping centre.

OPEN London Menswear.

The shop was packed to the rafters, almost too much so with sale items that made me think it’d just be a load of ex-warehouse rubbish; but my instinct told me otherwise and I tottered inside where I encountered some of the best menswear designs and equally impressive prices I’ve ever seen.

I am completely hooked and before I go on, I want to assure you I’m not being paid or sponsored to write about OPEN; this is genuinely off the back of my own enthusiasm.

The best way to describe the brand style is hipster-urban-chic.

A skilled combination of Euro-Scando design and styles coupled with New York street wear; Skiing Parkas and Snapbacks which essentially is me summed to a T when it comes to shopping fashion.

The fabric quality and garment construct is excellent and much better than the most well-known men’s high-street fashion retailer who’ve really let the quality slide with their tops, man.

Their T-Shirts actually have some heft to them and it’s nice to buy an item that doesn’t come with endless loose threads, bad seams/joins and poorly adhered transfers.

Unfortunately, being with other people meant I didn’t have time to look at everything but needless to say the selection was massive and there was so much great stuff to look at.

I came away with a really well cut, pine-green T; a branded sweatshirt – again, really well fitting around both the waist and shoulders; finally a knitted beanie that’s the perfect size and shape.

open 11open 10 open 9 open 8Altogether I spent only around £23 and that was with 10% student discount that they offer store-wide.

It was also a surprise to learn that they’re part of the JD Sports group chain of stores.

Finally, my only hope is that they stick to their guns and don’t go all tracksuit and bling on me; their current balance is perfect and I can see OPEN now being my first port of call.

Bigger the better, right? I mean, when it comes to boobs, not waist lines.
