L’Occitane Aromachologie: The Relaxing & Revitalizing Collection Reviewed

Heads up: some links in this article are affiliate links, and I may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what I recommend.

Before the current version, way back when, The Body Shop used to do a fabulous well being range with several sub-collections aimed at relaxation, energisation, detoxification and sleep in Kilner jar-style packaging, made with all-natural materials and essential oils. But, just like everything else they used to do, those products that were iconic offerings from The Body Shop; they abandoned it in favour of something nowhere near as beautiful.

At last however, L’Occitane – one of my favourite brands, has brought something similar to market. This time, packing a superior punch with far better formulations; complex and sophisticated scent aromas and fabulous efficacy. I’m hooked.

I’ve questioned a few of the L’Occitane launches this year with what feels like an endless stream of half-baked, same-y fragrances and then the very anticlimactic L’Occitane Au Brésil. L’Occitane Aromachologie has definitely restored my faith with such beautiful formulations and intense, 100% natural fragrances.

The collection features two arms: relaxation and revitalisation. The packaging is fabulous in brown glass and dark brown plastics. It looks gorgeous in my bathroom and each of the products do exactly what they say on the tin.

Aromachologie Relaxing

Relaxation includes a shower gel, massage oil, bath salt, body cream, essential oil blend, perfumed sachets and pillow mist.

Relaxation is composed of five essential oils: orange, rosemary, lavender, bergamot and mediterranean mandarin.

Taking deep breaths of the products (and definitely burning the essential oil blend) feels like a total mind-cleanse; everything becomes wibbly-wobbly and you can almost feel your blood pressure dropping and pulse rate slowing.

The body cream is soft and non-comedogenic leaving skin delicately fragranced and hydrated whilst the pillow spray, my favourite product from the relaxation collection, sends you to slumber in seconds.

Aromachologie Revitalizing

Revitalizing has just three products: shower gel, oil roll-on and body scrub. This blend combines essential oils of: lemon, rosemary, grapefruit, mint and orange.

Perfect for a morning boost, the shower gel is probably my favourite product from the entire Aromachologie collection, coupled with the body scrub: a deliciously coarse, rich and compacted scrub that leaves the skin fresh, fragranced and smooth without a trace of oiliness.

The Revitalizing Roll-on is my ultimate travel product. Applied to the pulse-points and taking deep breaths will brighten your mind and put a smile on your face – trust me!

A decade on the collection has slimmed down, but the Relaxing arm lives on: the Relaxing Pillow Mist is still sold at John Lewis and by L’Occitane directly.
