Freeze 24-7 SkinSmoothie Retexturizing Glycolic Pads 10%

Pads – every brand has ’em and they’re almost always the same – a pot of cotton pads overly-drenched in a salicylic acid based solution. They’re nothing new. However, Freeze 24/7 have taken this clichéd skincare product and turned it into something quite special and rather cool.

On first inspection, you open the box, undo one of the 2 plastic packets and remove a pad. Now they look weird, almost exactly like a folded panty liner, but I can assure you, they’re not. For once in my life I had to read the instructions as it was something so new, unusual and unique that it wasn’t the most intuitive of products to get to grips with.

Basically you open the end of the pad where you’ll find it serrated together, insert 3 fingers and then, remove the foil coating to reveal a textured pad soaked in a glycolic acid solution.

I’m a bit of a salicylic acid fiend, but with glycolic acid, as well as its powerful exfoliating properties, it also helps to calm the skin and act as an anti-inflammatory. The Freeze 24-7 SkinSmoothie Retexturizing Glycolic Pads contain a very high percentage of 10% Glycolic Acid which is one of the highest levels you’ll find in an at-home product.

Applying the product feels strange. As well as the gentle but effectively exfoliating glycolic acid, you’ll also feel the slightly rough texture of the pad getting to work, helping dislodge those dead surface skin cells.

Afterwards your skin will feel in need of a moisturiser, so after dabbing away any excess product, gently apply your favourite hydrating moisturiser to nourish that top layer of fresh, newly exposed skin cells. Freeze 24-7 rightly recommend that you should use a sunscreen for the course of this product, but my advice is that you should be using daily sunscreen anyway.

Freeze 24-7 SkinSmoothie Retexturizing Glycolic Pads 10% are available from Debenhams. They’re £45 for 16 pads which if you use 1-2 a week, should last up to 4 months! If you’re looking for an easy, novel and effective way to exfoliate, especially on the move, these are definitely worth a look.
