For The Love of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

Over the last year or so, I’ve been resorting to Kieh’s Ultra Facial Cream more and more. I think as I’m getting *gulp* older, my skin is dehydrating a little more easily. Because of this, I’ve moved from Gels to Soft Creams, of which Ultra Facial Cream is one; in fact one of the best I’ve come across!

I’ve gone through a few pots of it so far and the ones below are my current ‘on the go’ with one in my dresser, one in my out and about bag and one in my travel kit; I can’t get enough!

What is a soft-cream?

The difference between a Soft Cream and a regular facial cream is purely in the texture. Soft Creams (aka Gel Creams) are exactly that, they’re smack bang in the middle with the hydration of a cream but the non-greasy finish of a gel.

What makes it so good?

With the three main ingredients, squaline, Antarcticine and desert plant extract, all are proven to lock in moisture. The base is of water, glycerin and Cyclohexasiloxane. Cyclohexasiloxane is a silicone that helps delivery hydrating ingredients deeper into the skin whilst creating a non-blocking surface barrier locking the moisture in whilst the moisture-absorbent ingredients help pull in surrounding air moisture.

There’s also added plant oils including avocado, apricot, olive, sweet almond and rice bran, all of which are gorgeous none-blocking hydrators. The full list of ingredients are below:

Water, Glycerin, Cyclohexasiloxane, Squalane, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Sucrose Stearate, Stearyl Alcohol, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, PEG-8 Stearate, Urea, Myristyl Myristate, Pentaerithrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice Bran) Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearic Acid, Methylparaben, Chlorphenesin, Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract, Disodium EDTA, Propylparaben, PEG-8, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Sweet Almond Oil, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycine Soja (Soybean)Oil, Tocopherol, Collagen, Hydroxypalmitoyl, Sphinganine, Chitosan, Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate.

In use

After cleansing in the shower on a morning, this is the second thing I grab afterwards that will completely lift and hydrate my skin after applying my chosen oil, treatment or serum. Regarding the fragrance, it’s very creamy with no added perfume; very pleasant but nothing notable.

Other than Ultra-Facial there isn’t a huge amount I’ve used lately that keeps the moisture locked in for as long and doesn’t leave my gagging for hydration by the middle-end of the day. It feels very which when it first hits the skin and then as you begin to work it in, quickly absorbs!

Kiehl’s best-selling Ultra-Facial Cream is available here from John Lewis from just £24 per pot (although currently £21.60 as there’s 10% off!)

I love the MaryKay men’s regimen so much! (http://www.marykay.com/en-US/_layouts/MaryKayCoreCatalog/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=10093886) I have a moisturizing face foam for shaving and Advanced Facial Hydrator Sunscreen with SPF 30. It keeps my face soft and ready for the next shave. It is amazing. I recommend it to any man out there.
