Clarins Blue Orchid Treatment Oil and Tonic Body Treatment Oil for winter hand and foot care

It was during a meeting with the team at Clarins that I was taken aback by this rather good tip. Combining the famous Clarins oils with their hand and foot creams (or your own, to be fair) turns them into superhero products for staving off winter dryness.

Blue Orchid Treatment Oil

The Blue Orchid Treatment Oil was actually the first ever Clarins product, made for clients back in the day and requested again and again; it was this that launched the brand into the global success it has become today.

It’s composed of rosewood, patchouli and blue orchid oils to balance and rehydrate deeply dehydrated skin without leaving it greasy and congested.

Although designed for facial use, a few drops in the palm of your hand with your favourite hand cream, or the Clarins Hand & Nail Treatment Cream, turns it into a silky, deeply penetrating serum that restores and re-plumps tired, dry, winter-ravaged hands. The natural fragrance is a lovely bonus too.

Tonic Body Treatment Oil

Part of the Bazaar Hot 100 list, this is probably my favourite Clarins product; it’s just such a multipurpose powerhouse.

With essential oils of rosemary, geranium and mint on a base of hazelnut oil, it leaves skin absolutely silken without feeling greasy or coated in oil; it just disappears.

Best applied after a shower on slightly damp skin, the natural fragrances are lovely and won’t leave you smelling overly feminine or masculine; it’s quite neutral on that front.

The tip for winter is to add a few drops into your foot and/or body moisturiser. The Clarins Foot Beauty Treatment Cream is rather delicious, with virgin cashew nut oil and shea butter as well as nail-conditioning myrrh. Best done at night, and again it won’t leave you greasy as long as you’re not too liberal.
