Biotherm Homme T-Pur

I was lucky enough to be sent two products from Biotherm Homme of their new T-Pur Anti Oil & Wet range, designed for a long lasting, anti-shine finish.

For someone who is plagued by a shiny t-zone that often rears its ugly head by around lunch-time, these products are a god send. I was sent both the T-PUR cleanser and the T-PUR Lotion.

The Cleanser is beautiful, it’s exactly what I look for in a facial wash, with great lather that really builds and feels silky smooth on the skin. Once rinsed off, skin is left feeling cool, like stepping out of the house on a cold morning, but not tight, dry or needing a moisturiser straight away.

The wash has an amazing light and fresh fragrance, but from looking at the ingredients list there’s really not much added fragrance in there at all. Algae from Brittany and Zinc regulate sebum production and actually work as anti-bacterial agents to keep the skin thoroughly cleansed.

A great tip from Biotherm is to use the cleanser twice daily as normal, but once a week, apple to the skin and let it dry for 3 minutes and then rinse of for a ‘deeply purifying effect’. You will also benefit from the added boost of Salicylic Acid that features in many of the products in the range, refining the skin’s texture and breaking down the bonds of dead skin cells, gently exfoliating the skin.

The lotion is an amazing second step in the range. It tightens pores, removes dead skin cells and rebalances the skin’s acidity levels. The shine reducing effect lasts for up to 8 hours and in the long term will balance up the production of oil. You only need to apply the lotion with a cotton pad and then wipe gently over the face.

Because it contains salicylic acid, I advise that you don’t go mad with it, as you don’t want to over-refine the skin’s surface, so a couple of smooth, swift strokes should do it. This will leave the skin prepared for a moisturiser, as one of the biggest causes of moisturisers not being able to sink in and do their job, is dead skin cells acting as a preventative barrier.

Because these were two products that particularly appealed to my skin type, I gave them a couple of weeks use before writing this up and I really saw an improvement in both my skin’s texture and more importantly a massive visible reduction in shine and excess oiliness.

By lunch time when I would otherwise be an oil-slick, there was nothing. Oil-reducing products can often cause the skin to feel tight and sometimes they may even dehydrate the skin, but not with these bad boys. As well as there being the reduction in shine, my skin felt hydrated and well balanced ALL DAY.

For some reason, I found the availability of these products to be a little difficult, but did locate them at House of Fraser, here is the Lotion and here’s the cleanser. Let me know how you get on!
