Atelier Des Ors Musc Immortel

Last Thursday it was wonderful to sit down in the lobby of London’s Edition Hotel with the man behind Atelier Des Ors fragrances, Jean-Philippe, and discuss his latest Harrods exclusive launch of Musc Immortel.

Launching this month as a Harrods exclusive, Musc Immortel is a malevolent and promiscuous blend of Immortelle, Musk, Ambrette, Vetiver and Patchouli. It’s sexy, very sexy and whilst technically a unisex scent, it’s definitely one for him.

As with all Atelier Des Ors fragrances, inside the golden juice sits flakes or pure gold, invoking the passion and dedication of Atelier Des Ors to precious essences and the most exclusive and fascinating raw materials.

Atelier Des Ors fragrances take the darkest, most raw and unsheathed notes and curbs their jagged edges through the high-art of traditional french perfume crafting. This is not a brand who’ll be producing a light and fresh, fun and fruity cologne any time soon; this is my kind of brand.

Although I love the new Musc Immortel and haven’t stopped wearing it since Thursday, my favourite still has to be Lune Feline – unsurprisingly the brand’s biggest seller. You can read more about that here.

The full breakdown of Musc Immortel, created by Marie Salamagne, starts with a head of grapefruit, clary sage and iris; a heart of patchouli, haitian vetiver and cypriol oil; and finally a base of ambrette, musk and immortelle.

Atelier Des Ors Musc Immortel Eau De Parfum will be available from Harrods later this month at £225/100ml. If you’re a fan of deep, dark, weird and wonderful fragrances, Atelier Des Ors should be one of your first calling points.
