Lacura Lip Care Packs at ALDI

Aldi Lacura Face Care Classic Lip Care and Summer Lip Bare 1

Every now and then, there’s a brilliant beauty bargain that’s just too good to be ignored. This one is from one of my favourite budget lines, Lacura, sold exclusively at ALDI stores internationally.

These are sets of 3 lip balms that the you and your family will find really useful this summer. There are three branches to the range – Intensive Care, Sensitive Care and Summer Care (although labeled Gentle Care). Each comes in a box of 3, priced at a mind-blowing price of £1.19 which makes each lip balm 39.7p. Amazing!

Summer Lip Care SPF25

The Summer Lip Care set is my favourite, just because they’re yellow and put me in mind of my upcoming holiday. It’s bright orange and smells like orange; containing Seabuckthorn oil, Vitamin A and E and has sun protection of SPF25, protecting against both UVA (long wave) and UVB (short wave) radiation. For guys, a shiny lip balm is always a concern and I was pleased to find that there was no shine whatsoever, just a natural finish.

As well as the featured ingredients listed above, there’s Castor Oil, Jojoba (an excellent moisturiser), Candelilla wax and beeswax. The sticks are firm and don’t leave a greasy mess on the lips; instead a quick glide leaves them protected and soft.

Intensive Lip Care SPF15

The Intensive Care is the best for my dry and easily damaged lips. I’ve long suffered with eczema and my lips peel at a moments notice, plus I’m constantly told off my friends and family for picking at them (I know, gross). However, don’t you find that lip balms designed to heal dry lips often leave you with a mouth totally plastered in product, that you both eat and spread onto every glass and bottle you touch? It’s not a good look.

Intensive Care contains Capuacu Butter and Babassu Oil – two superb moisturisers. You’ll also find Castor Oil, Olive oil and Beeswax, which are all near the top of the ingredients list, meaning they’re high in the ingredient ratio.

The fragrance is an odd but welcomed choice – apple, which strikes me as a little incongruous to all these butters, oils and rich healing properties; you’d think it might be something neutral or sweet/buttery? This time there’s SPF15 UVA/UVB which will still provide a great level of protection, but for high-summer, I’d recommend something close to the SPF25 in the Summer Lip Care sticks above.

Aldi. Like brands. Only cheaper

Update 02/07/2013 at 10:59AM: As people have commented asking whether or not they contain mineral oil, I am so pleased to let you know that it doesn’t and is printed on the box in one of the photos above. I’ve scoured through the ingredients on the Summer Care stick and found none, whilst the Intensive Lip Care has it stamped on the box that it doesn’t!

As I’ve already mentioned, the 3-packs are priced at £1.19 each and are available exclusively from Aldi stores. My recommendation is to buy them quick, as Aldi tends to get great products like this in-stock which then disappear within a week!

Have you used Lacura products before? If so, what did you think?

I bought these last year and thoroughly enjoyed them, the price and quality! Aldi always has the best stuff in the CAGES.

These are an absolute bargain! I’m the type of person who NEVER finishes a lip balm but has loads on the go at one time. I’m forever forgetting to take one out with me *gets dry lips* then has to buy another one! I’m guessing for this price they are mineral oil based as well as the other ingredients you mentioned. When it comes to SPF lip balms though I’m yet to find a non-mineral oil based balm that isn’t sticky or just shit!

I was always a little dubious but you are making a good case for Lacura, which is a great help. I might pop into Aldi then and check these out!

By all means stay away from the Lacura one for winter with SPF 25. It gives you white gunk lips 😀

Will do, as I have enough of the Summer and Intensive to last me until SS14!

Hey all. I’ve just updated the article but thought I’d drop a comment anyway.

I’d not thought to mention the Mineal Oil and after looking through the Summer Lip Care ingredients, I’ve found it to contain none, and as pictured, the Intensive Lip Care is actually labelled as being free from Mineral Oil.

Wow they sound very good and apple wow that’s different. I may have to check these out though I have just brought three new lip balms (I have a weird lip balm obsession). Will try these out 😀

So with you on the lip balm obsession.

I’ve always been hooked on an endless buying cycle of the Créme de la Mer The Lip Balm because since I was 16, my lips have been a right mess (although started buying the CDLM only a few years ago).

It seems that the quality of lower-priced lip balms has really started to perk up, with the likes of the nasty, outdated Chapstick almost disappearing altogether! Good for Aldi!

How have you never shopped at ALDI!? I’m a massive snob in most regards but besides their horse meat products of past, the food and beauty at ALDI is excellent in both quality and price. Enjoy!
