Jo Malone London Myrrh & Tonka Cologne

Not only is this a review for Jo Malone London Myrrh & Tonka, but also the debut of my new bathroom studio set – for a product set, it’s huuuge. I’m not blogging about building it as I’ve learnt from a past mistake when so many others copied. But it was a great weekend spent building it.

So down the the review. Jo Malone London Myrrh & Tonka, by Mathilde Bijaoui, is one of the Jo Malone London Cologne Intense fragrances; always known by their gorgeous black bottle and silver label. The intense colognes are the creme de la creme of Jo Malone London scents and tend to signify the more mature offerings from the brand.

I expected this to be oud-y, really oud-y, but it couldn’t be further from it. It’s a dark, spicy but creamy blend of myrrh, almond, vanilla and tonka. There’s also a touch of lavender thrown into the mix, this just reinforces a little pepperiness. It’s not the most stereotypically masculine of fragrances but can definitely be worn by both with confidence.

It wears beautifully and becomes a little softer after the first spray. My only criticism is that it could last a little longer as it does fade a little after a few hours. It’s something very different, particularly for the world of men’s fragrance outside of the niche market.

Jo Malone London Myrrh & Tonka Cologne is available from £74 here at John Lewis.

I’ve been looking for something to replace my typical Polo fragrance. May have to give this a go.

Oh this is definitely worth a look. I wouldn’t say this is a spring/summer fragrance, but you can bet I’ll be wearing it come rain or shine!!
