A blog with over a decade of skincare advice and reviews
This website was started in 2011 and is now over a decade old. From starting my early beauty career in retail with The Body Shop and Clinique whilst in further education; to qualifying as a beauty therapist in 2012 and now working as a marketing director as of 2020, earning an MSc in research psychology, I have lived and breathed skincare and the beauty industry for over 15 years.
Transforming into my only online home in 2021, but retaining it’s original web address, manface.co.uk was born out of wanting to share experienced, expert and honest skincare and skin advice in a world where it’s often so gatekept. Even some of the best experts are held back by brand affinity in either a retail or salon environment and so this website was designed to fight against that.
Also in 2021, many older articles were retired. This was either due to them being inactive; the advice outdated or because the product or brand no longer existed. However in over a decade, 1,000+ articles were written and now around 200 remain. As well as writing new articles and guides, I’m making my way through these articles to ensure they are still as relevant today as they were when they were first written.
Is manface.co.uk only a men’s skincare blog?
At it’s inception, manface was aimed particularly towards men and men’s skincare because in 2011 men’s skincare options were far more limited than they are today, Skincare for men consisted of little more than blue aftershave gel and an all-in-one face, body, hair and mouth wash. However, most skincare products I review and concerns I talk about are agender and from much feedback, this site has helped both men and women alike.
Do I make money from this website?
I stand firmly by my independence and objectivity as a beauty and skincare professional and writer. Within articles, I use affiliate links and/or banners that give me a tiny percentage of any sale you might make directly from the retailer. I use mostly multi-brand retailers like Look Fantastic, John Lewis and Feel Unique meaning there is no financial incentive to recommend one brand or product over another. Some articles are sponsored and are marked as such, but these never ensure a positive review; I firmly turn down sponsorships for products I don’t like.
