Here’s to 2014…

Happy New Year! Here’s to an amazing 2014.

This being the first full year of professional blogging, as in, this being my source of income and employment, has been interesting, fun, challenging (more so than I could have ever imagined) and a real learning curve in so many ways and if you’re reading this, you have been one of the people that made this possible and I am unspeakably grateful.

Outside the blog, it’s been a roller-coaster of year for Mr. Manface at times: some welcome and overdue endings as well as both personal and family illnesses (all good now though!) and there have been a few times, as I’m sure there must have been for you, where I could have just thrown my arms up and shouted “I’m done!” but as we all do, I kept calm and carried on (~ish).

What do you want to achieve in 2014?

In my own life, more exercise as over the last 6 months I’ve lost around 2 stone in weight and I intend to keep that off; to tone up and to feel fitter. I’m going to be less of a hermit/grumpy old man and I’m also going to be 23 which is a pointless age where you’re still too young to be taken seriously but old enough for the world to treat you like you’re invisible whilst paying full price for your NHS prescriptions etc. (ok, I’ve clearly got a lot of work to do on the grumpy thing). Also fear not, there will be plenty more #Moanface moments.

For Manface, I want to make the site work for you, I want to hear what you want; what you like and what you don’t like (unfortunately I’ll still be the one writing it so hard luck there). There will be plenty of reviews from my favourites and long-standing friends of Manface but also new brands, with new products and new concepts; maybe I’ll even look at natural and organic? Things will also become a little more editorial and rather than just reviews, there’ll be roundups; articles discussing skin concerns and targeted treatments; plenty more interviews and definitely even more Manface exclusives… and some giveaways.

So what do you think? What are you doing for 2014 and where will it take you?

Great work in the blog with very useful information. I’m coming to rely on you. As you confessed to being the grand old age of 23, I would like to see more information for older skins. I confess to being in my 60s but my skin is really good and I’d like to keep it that way. Maybe there is no need to distinguish as say between dry and oily but I’d like to hear your views.

    Hi John,

Thanks for your comment. How do you mean in regards to not distinguishing between dry and oily skin? Which are you and what concerns do you have?

Thom, let me wish you even more success (and money!) for 2014. ‘You’ means you and your boyfriend as well, naturally.

You’re doing a great job with this site so just carry on and you won’t go far wrong. I have bought various things you have recommended but I haven’t reviewed them. Despite being a writer I find it really quite hard to describe scents, textures of creams etc. A bit like describing a wine, know what I mean? So I’ll leave it at that — you do the describing and I’ll do the buying!

Stay happy.

Brent.

    Hi Brent,

Thanks for your comment and continual support of Manface! I hope you’re all set for a great 2014 too. If there’s anything you’d particularly like to see reviewed, do let me know.
