Old Factories: A New Scent Space

This has been in the back of my mind for a while and only because of the few days off I had over Christmas, was I properly able to start putting it together.

Over the last 4 years, I’ve been lucky enough to meet and chat with such industry legends as Jo Malone, Francis Kurkdjian and Linda Pilkington of Ormonde Jayne.

Unlike skin care, where it can be very clinical and formulaic, the world of fragrance seems to distill knowledge intertwined with passion and personal experiences; this never ceases to fascinate me.

I’m not a fragrance expert, never professed to be and I suppose in my line of work, it’s an add-on to the rest of ‘male grooming’, but after following such blogs as The Candy Perfume Boy, Persolaise, Nick Gilbert and many others, a passion for this vast and endless industry has been ignited.

I wanted to create a ‘fragrance space’ and despite how wildly pretentious that sounds, this is something I really wanted to do, if anything, for myself!

So here it is, Old Factories (no prizes for guessing the play on words). I wanted Scents & Sensibility but apparently that was a really shit film from 2011. Who knew?

Fear not though, from now on, every time I post a review or article, I’ll feed it through here on MANFACE and on the usual social media channels so you won’t miss a single. But I wanted a place purely devoted to my expanding love of fragrance and exploration of the industry and associated cultures, but it’s still very much part of MANFACE.

If this works, I’ll be very happy but if not, I’ll transfer it all back here and we’ll pretend it never happened and won’t talk about it ever again! But, hopefully you’ll enjoy it…

Congrats on the new business venture! I’ve been considering venturing out and creating my own food site, but I’m still up in the air on it. AND thank you! for adding me to your favourite blog list, it’s appreciated, and I’m flattered.
